9 time out of 10, when I get a phone call, I am free to talk. Tonight was a bit different, since I promised the rugrat a night of uninterrupted board game playing. We were playing this one game, Quelf (fun game...I'll include it below) when I got a call that I had to take.

Since this person was totally understanding (and totally used to our antics)...I juggled the two. (And it was great being sly, and reading any trivia questions aloud that I recieved, so I would have an extra brain to help me out. Muahahahahahahaaaa!) I had to keep from laughing though, because every few minutes, I would be like...
"Hahhhhhhhh...Sheeeeeeeee....Huaahhhhhhhh...Sheeeeee....(that's me, being all Darth Vader-like)...Luuuuuke, get off your sister and join the Dark Side."
Huaaaahhhhhh....Sheeeeee.....Does this light saber make my butt look big? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeee huahhhhhhh"

and such.
He was finally like "WTH April?!?!"
I had drawn a card where I had to be ol' Darthy-poo, but, the catch is I had to grumble about stuff. And, I had to do that during the opposite player's turn, every time. (That was a heck of a lot easier than trying to mime that I was trapped in a tree with 5 rabid ferrets!)
But...I mean, I didn't want to blow either of them off, so....we made do!
Do you play board games with your kiddos (if you have the little boogers, I mean)? We like the 'ology games (Wizardology, Dragonology)....but we go old school too, with the likes of Life and Scrabble (OMG if I have to play Mystery Date ONE MORE TIME!!!). We rarely do it anymore (Helloooo Wii and PS3) but it's fun every now and then.

There's very few things as "cool" as spending time with kids. Too many young parents don't appreciate that fact -- until it's too late.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the two of you had a good time and having your friend "freaking out" wondering what's happening sounds funny as all get out.
You have a pretty daughter too. Takes after her mother. ;) lol
Keep on keeping on, because it sounds like the two of you have a good relationship. Treasure that.
Zombie Flux. One of my friends brought it round and the whole house got involved. It's super easy to learn which is good because none/some/ALL of us were steadily getting drunker.
ReplyDelete(I don't recommend you try that second part with your kids)
Awww thanks Mystic Scholar, you're too nice!
ReplyDeleteGyran, checked it out, and saw they also have others like Pirate, Star Wars, and more. Methinks I see a new addiction. And, LoL..naw, the second part probably wouldn't win me any mother of the year awards, that's for sure! :) ;)
Pretty sneaky sis. Using the phone as a Life-line for the game. LOL
