Do you enjoy word games and puzzles? Can you tell a story in five sentences or less using words that sound alike? Does your brain need some exercise with a comical twist or a thoughtful surprise? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then Rhyming Pretzels are for you!
What is a "Rhyming Pretzel" you ask? Well, take the ingredients of words that sound alike, form them into a few sentences about anything you like (usually an average of five sentences), then give them a fast "flip", and you have a pretzel that is sure to tickle the funnybone!

Reading the back-cover of the book (which you can read, above), this game sounded ideal for me because I love word games and, hey...I love comical twists! But, sadly, I just didn't find it very fun. Sure, it is a game I had never played before; a game where I take a series of rhyming words and make a funny, short rhyming story out of it, but after a few "pretzels" I had lost interest.
The directions are very hard to understand, as they are written, and I learned to play the game by looking at examples in the front of the book. The directions were of no real help at all. Once it is learned, it is an easy word game to play, where the only thing that can make it long-lasting is the amount of time it may take the player to come up with a witty "pretzel", or string of sentences with rhyming words that forms a story. with some of them, I had to really sit and think of a story using the words provided (and make it sing-song like a children's rhyme) and then there's the added task of giving it a comedic twist. Others were really easy.
I think this would be a good "I'm bored, so what can I do now?" type of activity, but it is pretty pricey ($21) considering that once the book is filled in, the word-play for this book is over, unless one takes a scrap piece of paper and writes on the paper instead of in the book. Still, this book might prove enjoyable for fans of word-play. It just wasn't as enjoyable to me as I thought it would be.
